The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Wednesday that it is "too early" to say whether the new Corona virus has reached its peak or when it may end, after the number of new infections has begun to decline.
"I think it is too early for the time being to try to predict whether the epidemic is in its early, middle or final stages," WHO Director of Emergency Health Programs Michael Ryan told reporters.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tiedros Adanum Gebresos, spoke of "a stability in the number of new infections recorded in China last week," stressing the need not to rush to the conclusion.
The Director-General of the organization praised Cambodia for agreeing to receive the American cruise ship "Westerdam" which several Asian countries refused to receive for fear of the outbreak of the new Corona virus.
"This is an example of the international solidarity that we have always advocated," he said, adding that "an outbreak of viruses can show the best of the human or the worst of it. Stigmatizing individuals or entire nations can only harm the response efforts."
"Stigmatization leads to the diversion of attention and incites people against one another rather than focusing all of our energies on tackling the spread of the virus," the Secretary-General said.
