The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Wednesday calling for a "permanent ceasefire" in Libya, which has been witnessing a fragile truce since January.
The text of the resolution prepared by Britain and approved by 14 votes out of 15 in the council after Russia abstained from voting was subject to extensive discussion over three weeks, which confirms the continuing sharp international division over Libya despite the recent reaching of an international consensus on the need to stop foreign interference in the country and keep The arms embargo.
