Damascus on Wednesday described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a person "separated from reality" after threatening to target Syrian forces "everywhere", according to what the official media quoted a source in the Foreign Ministry as saying.
A source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry said, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), "The head of the Turkish regime comes out with empty, desolate hollow statements that are issued only by a person who is separate from reality (...) and only speaks of ignorance to threaten to hit army soldiers." The Syrian Arab after he suffered painful strikes for his army on the one hand and for his terrorists on the other hand.
Idlib governorate in northwestern Syria has witnessed ten days of field tension, which has decreased between Ankara and Damascus, including clashes that resulted in deaths between the two sides, the last of which was Monday.
This coincides with an attack by the regime forces with Russian support, which has been ongoing since December in areas in and around Idlib controlled by the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham (formerly Nusra) and other less influential opposition factions.
Turkey recently sent huge military reinforcements to the region, consisting of hundreds of military vehicles, most of which entered after a week-long exchange of fire between Turkish and Syrian forces, behind the deaths of both sides.
On Monday, tension recurred, as Ankara announced that the Syrian regime forces had targeted their locations in Idlib.
