Boeing issued a warning Wednesday of the effects of the outbreak of the new Corona virus, indicating that it will definitely affect the aviation industry in particular and the economy in general.
The virus has killed more than 1,100 people and infected hundreds in China. Even the infection has spread to more than 24 countries in what is considered a health threat globally.
The major airlines suspended their flights to and from China, imposing a quarantine on the most affected areas, and several countries prevented flights from China.
"There are many major airlines that have reduced their flights to and from China and these are losses," said Ihsan Munir, vice president of sales for the Greater China region at Boeing.
"Business trips were canceled and shipments to and from the country stopped."
"This will have consequences for the economy, for the profits, for the aircraft ... There is no doubt about that."
He was speaking to reporters in Singapore at the largest aviation exhibition in Asia, more than 70 participants withdrew and the number of visitors declined due to concerns related to the virus.
Singapore has recorded 47 infections so far and raised the alert level to the level of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2002 and 2003.
Unusually, the huge exhibition, which lasts for four days, was desolate, especially with the closure of the platforms of the companies that withdrew from it.
